Serving the Bay Area for more than 30 years, Los Altos Christian Schools looks to provide students with a quality education rooted in a warm Christian atmosphere. Fully accredited by the Association of Christian Schools International (ASCI) and the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC), the schools offer educational opportunities from Preschool through 8th Grade. Primarily geared toward average and above average learners, the schools’ standardized test scores have routinely ranked in the 80th and 90th percentile. Perhaps more importantly, the schools continue to provide an integrated education that seamlessly blends American patriotism, Christian morals, and personal integrity.
Creating a Los Altos Web Design for a large institution with such a rich heritage posed a number of unique challenges. First and foremost, the main landing page needed to create a sense of the identity that the schools have worked so hard to create. Using the schools’ chosen colors as a backdrop, the top of the page is devoted to snapshots of student life and important upcoming events. Of course, while form is vital, functionality is especially so when dealing with the diverse array of enrollees and prospective enrollees visiting a website such as this. With that in mind, the landing page also features large, direct links to the programs available under the larger Los Altos Christian Schools umbrella. Further, a fully navigable toolbar at the top of the page offers simple navigation options to everything from Admissions to Student Life pages.
Digging further into the site, guests will find a site that functions as far more than just a static information hub. Mimicking the growth of the students and the school itself, the website has been designed to create a dialogue through continuously updated content. Perhaps chief among these components is an integrated WordPress system that allows the principal of the schools to provide weekly updates on important happenings. Similarly, the design and build of the site includes a custom calendar to keep families abreast of important upcoming events and social widgets to make sharing that information as convenient as possible.
For newcomers to the school, easy-to-access online registration forms can be found near information about visiting hours and program overviews. Of course, as a private Christian institution, Los Altos Christian Schools rely heavily on donations and fundraising. Thanks to a Giving menu option and online donation button, visitors can now make a tax deductible investment via protected credit card or PayPal transactions.
